Governance & Policies

MCERA is governed by the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 (California State Government Code Section 31450 et. seq., also referred to as the 1937 Act). MCERA is also governed by the California Constitution and the bylaws, procedures and policies adopted by MCERA's Retirement Board. The Marin County Board of Supervisors and the governing boards of other participating employers may also adopt resolutions, as permitted by the 1937 Act, which may affect the benefits of MCERA members.
